How to Fix Blink Mini Camera Clicking

One of the best features of Blink cameras is that they are elegant and compact. This makes them perfect for not being detectable by intruders or any suspicious neighbors. So, imagine having a camera inside or outside your home that’s constantly making a clicking noise. This would immediately grab any intruder’s attention so they know where the camera is and try to either avoid it or steal it as well.

If your Blink Mini camera is clicking, there are several possible reasons why this could be happening. Keep reading to find out how to fix it and why this problem occurs.

How to Fix Blink Camera Clicking?

More than one solution can be applied here based on the actual cause of the problem. If your Blink Mini camera is clicking, the problem could be due to low battery power or an enabled photo capture feature.

Time to Replace the Batteries

Among the most common reasons for the clicking sound in your Blink Mini camera is low battery life. This is the simplest of the issues to fix, as all you have to do is just replace the batteries. However, keep in mind that you have to use the right type of batteries for Blink cameras. The most preferable choice includes two Energizer Ultimate AA 1.5V Lithium batteries. Avoid using alkaline batteries for Blink cameras at all costs.

? Tip: Try replacing the batteries for your Mini Blink camera even if it says that they aren’t low in power. This is an often-overlooked issue when it can simply be fixed by ignoring the indicator and changing the batteries for new ones.

Once you have replaced the batteries for your Blink Mini camera, turn it back on and it should go back to working normally. If, however, this does not solve the problem, then there is another solution that you can apply.

Turn Off Photo Capture

Imagine this. One day, you were playing around with the settings in your Blink app and soon you started hearing your Blink Mini camera clicking all of the sudden. This may be because you’ve accidentally turned on the photo capture feature. This forces the camera to take pictures at various intervals. What’s even worse, it starts clicking more when it gets dark and the camera activates the IR.

Here is how to turn off the photo capture feature in the Blink app:

  • Open the Blink app
  • Click on the camera model that is clicking and go to Settings
  • Under Photo Capture, toggle the button to its OFF position

Why Is My Blink Mini Camera Clicking?

One of the most common reasons why you’d hear a Blink camera clicking is because of the IR lens. When the IR lens is constantly being turned on and off, it produces a clicking sound. This usually happens when there’s not enough power in the batteries. This is why you should ignore the battery life indicator on the camera and simply replace the batteries. There’s no need to try and fix or remove the IR lens as it’s simply a matter of replacing the batteries in most cases.
