Step By Step Installing Ring Floodlight Cam
Now that you know a few of the main benefits that the Ring Floodlight Cam will bring to your home, let’s see how to install it correctly. The process is simple and shouldn’t take you more than 15 minutes to complete.
Step 1: Prepare for Installation
Before actually installing the camera, you must make the initial preparations. This includes one of the most important steps, turning the power off at the breaker. Safety should always be the number one priority.

? Tip: If you’re not sure which switch controls the correct circuit for your camera, simply turn off the main power from the main power switch and simply turn it back on later.
After doing this, unpack the Floodlight Cam and loosen the adjustment knobs for the lights. Then, turn both of the lights straight up in order to make the installation easier. Next, loosen the collar at the base of the camera, rotate it 180 degrees, and lock it back in place. This ensures that the camera is facing the right side up.
Step 2: Install the Ring Floodlight Cam
If you already have an existing light fixture, now is the time to remove it. If you don’t have an existing light fixture, make sure that you consult an electrician for help running the power cables through the walls.
? Tip: Keep in mind that the optimal height for installing the Ring Floodlight Cam is 9 feet (3 meters).
Install the Mounting Bracket

Once the power cables are through the wall, take your Floodlight Cam out of the box and run the cables through the small hole at the bottom. Then, line up the mounting bracket and screw it in place.
Wire Your Floodlight Cam

After you’ve secured the mounting bracket it’s time to connect the wires. A great tip is to use the included hook to hold the camera in place while you connect each wire. Simply attach the hook to one of the mounting holes on the camera and on the mounting bracket itself. This will ensure that you don’t pointlessly use one hand just to hold the camera while you’re wiring it. That will just make the job a lot harder than it has to be.
Here is how to wire the Ring Floodlight Cam properly:
- Take the copper ground wire from the camera and loop it around the green ground screw on the mounting bracket. Then, tighten the screw.
- Connect the black wire from the camera to the black wire from the junction box. Use a wire nut for extra efficiency and safety.
- Connect the white wire from the camera to the white wire from the junction box.
? Tip: Consult with an electrician if your junction box doesn’t have wires that are clearly colored.
Step 3: Hang Your Floodlight Cam
The final step is securing the Ring Floodlight Cam in place. Here is how to easily do this:

- Remove the hook from the camera and the mounting bracket.
- Push the wires through the hole and into the junction box.
- Align the camera with the mounting holes on the mounting bracket.
- Then, simply attach the screw cap nuts with a ring screwdriver.
All that’s left to do now is to adjust your camera angle and the positioning of the lights. As we mentioned, loosen the adjustment knobs to adjust the lights and then tighten them back again. You can also turn the lights sideways by turning the lock collars.

Finally, turn the power back on and set up your Ring Floodlight camera by using the Ring app. Now, you’re good to go. Enjoy your new Ring Floodlight Cam and the amazing benefits that come with it.
