Nest cameras are a great way to monitor your home and look over someone when you are away. You can also use Nest cameras to monitor other rooms even when you are home. They are elegant, slick, and take up very little space. Should any problems occur with your Nest camera, you can always quickly reset it so that it starts working normally again.
Here is how to reset any Nest camera:
Reset Nest Cam or Dropcam

The Nest Indoor Cam, Nest Outdoor Cam, and the Dropcam do not feature any physical reset button. As a result, the only way to reset these cameras is to simply remove them from your Nest account. You can do this by following these steps:
Step 1: Open the app and click on the camera you wish to reset
Step 2: Tap on Settings
Step 3: Go to the bottom of the Settings page and tap on Remove Camera. Then simply Confirm.
?Tip: Create a screenshot of your existing options and settings. This will help you restore your preferences once you set up the camera again later.
Reset Nest Cam IQ

The Nest Cam IQ Indoor and Outdoor models feature a physical factory reset button that you must click on before removing the cameras from your account. In this case, the reset process is slightly different. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Find the Reset button on the camera. The Indoor camera’s reset button is on the bottom. The Outdoor camera’s reset button is at the front.
Step 2: Get a paperclip and press & hold the reset button with it. The camera will start chiming and the light will spin yellow. This means the reset process has started.
Step 3: Release the reset button when the light starts spinning blue instead of yellow. After this, the lights will turn off but the reset process is still going. So, be patient and wait.
Step 4: The reset will be complete when the lights start slowly blinking blue. At this stage, the camera will be offline in the app. Simply follow the process above to remove it from the app and then install it back again. This will conclude the reset process.
⚠ Warning: DO NOT turn off the camera or plug it out of the outlet while you are resetting it. Make sure it is connected to power and there is no interference. Otherwise, the reset won’t work.
Nest Camera Restart vs Factory Reset
You should know the difference between a factory reset of the cameras and a restart. Restarting the cameras simply means that you are turning it off, waiting a couple of seconds or minutes, and then turning it back on again. A factory reset, on the other hand, wipes out all of the settings and data.
Restart your Nest cameras when they suddenly freeze, have trouble with an internet connection, or have other similar issues.
Reset your Nest cameras when you are giving them to another person, not using them anymore, or trying to fix an issue that the Restart did not fix.
